As a restaurant specializing in Filipino dishes in Happy Valley, Oregon, we will share the most popular and delicious Filipino dishes you should try at least once in your lifetime:

  • Adobo
No list of Filipino food is complete without mentioning adobo. Made with either pork or chicken, adobo is a ubiquitous Pinoy dish found in every household in the country. Filipino cooks typically use chicken or meat with vinegar, salt, pepper, soy sauce, garlic, salt, and other spices to prepare the food and preserve it without storing it in the refrigerator. Much like other Pinoy dishes, adobo is served with white rice and may sometimes be served with laurel leaves, chicken liver, and potatoes.
  • Lechon Kawali
Deep-fried pork or lechon kawali is another popular Pinoy dish and is served as an everyday meal and as a main dish in important events, such as birthdays or graduation parties. Also called lechon carajay, it is crispy pork belly deep-fried in either a wok or a pan. To prepare it, the meat is seasoned beforehand before being cooked and chopped into smaller pieces before serving. Lechon kawali is best eaten with lechon sauce which is made up of toyomansi or pork liver.
  • Fried Lumpia
If you are hiring Filipino food and catering in Gresham, Oregon, you can expect fried lumpia to be part of the menu. Lumpia refers to one or many kinds of fried spring rolls, consisting of mixed vegetables and/or meat that is served as an appetizer, finger food, or part of the main dish. It’s best consumed with sweet and sour or spicy dipping sauce to complement its flavor and texture.
  • Pancit
Pancit consists of rice noodles and is served for lunch and supper in most Filipino restaurants and households. Pancit comes in two main variations, which include pancit canton and pancit bihon. Pancit canton includes egg noodles and is similar in appearance to the noodles used in spaghetti, while pancit bihon is thinner and translucent in appearance. However, the two variations share similar meat and vegetables which may include pork, shrimp, chicken, bell peppers, celery, carrots, onion, cabbage, and garlic.
